Glutanex Glutathione Night Cream is a brightening cream you use at night. Glutathione is the main ingredient. Alongside it are kojic acid, arbutin and vitamin C, which are well-known for brightening, and a few botanicals that Indian skincare has used for a long time, such as turmeric, sandalwood, saffron and neem. There are also nourishing oils in it, so your skin stays soft overnight.

It comes in a 30 g jar. You use it once a night, and it's made for both men and women.

What's inside, and what each ingredient does

For brightening and a more even tone

  • Glutathione is often called the body’s master antioxidant. In skincare it's used to help the complexion look brighter and more even. Read more about glutathione for skin
  • Kojic acid and arbutin are two familiar ingredients aimed at the look of dark spots and uneven pigmentation. How glutathione compares with kojic acid
  • Vitamin C brightens and helps fight free radicals. It also works alongside glutathione. Glutathione vs vitamin C
  • Sandalwood oil and saffron (kumkum) extract have a long history in Indian complexion care.

For antioxidant protection

  • Mulberry and green tea extracts are antioxidants that help protect skin from everyday environmental stress.
  • Turmeric (curcumin) is there to soothe and calm.

For nourishment and moisture

  • Avocado oil gives rich hydration.
  • Jojoba oil helps keep the skin's moisture balanced.
  • Beeswax and honey are natural emollients. They help hold moisture in.
  • Vitamin E adds deep nourishment.

For soothing and the skin barrier

  • Calendula extract is soothing.
  • Zinc oxide helps soothe and protect the skin barrier.
  • Neem extract helps skin look clearer.

How to use it at night

Glutanex Glutathione Night Cream texture on fingertip

It takes about five minutes before bed, and it works best if you do it every night.

  1. Cleanse. Wash your face with a gentle face wash and lukewarm water. Pat it dry with a soft towel instead of rubbing.
  2. Take a pea-sized amount. You don't need much. One small scoop covers the whole face, and you can take a little extra if you're doing your neck too.
  3. Dot the cream on your forehead, cheeks, nose and chin, then spread it evenly.
  4. Massage it in with gentle upward circles for about a minute, until it melts into the skin. Finish with a few light upward strokes on the neck.
  5. Leave it on while you sleep. You don't need to rinse it off until you wash your face in the morning.

Then, every morning, finish your routine with SPF 30+ sunscreen. Kojic acid, arbutin and vitamin C only show their best results when your skin is protected from the sun.

If you're trying it for the first time, do a patch test behind your ear or on your inner arm and wait 24 to 48 hours. If your skin is sensitive, use it every other night for the first week.

Be patient with it. Use it every night for 8 to 12 weeks, and take a photo every two weeks in the same light so you can actually compare. Here's how long glutathione takes to work.

Who it may suit

  • People with dull or tired-looking skin
  • Anyone dealing with uneven tone, dark spots or marks left behind by acne
  • Normal to dry skin that enjoys a richer night cream
  • Men and women alike

Who should be careful

  • If your skin is sensitive or reacts easily, keep in mind that kojic acid can irritate some people. Patch test first and start with every other night.
  • If you're allergic to bee products (beeswax or honey), fragrances or any of the botanicals listed, check the ingredients carefully before you buy.
  • Very oily or acne-prone skin may find the oils too rich. Use only a small amount.
  • If you're pregnant or breastfeeding, ask your doctor before using any brightening product.
  • Don't apply it to broken, sunburnt or freshly waxed skin. Wait until it heals.
  • It isn't vegan, because it contains beeswax and honey.

If you notice redness, burning, itching or a rash, stop using it. See a doctor if it doesn’t settle down.

What results can you expect?

If you use it every night and wear sunscreen during the day, your skin will probably feel softer and better nourished within a couple of weeks. Any change in glow and evenness is slower, usually showing gradually over 2 to 3 months. Results vary a lot from person to person. No cream changes your skin overnight, and we don’t promise any particular result.
