Glutanex Original vs Fake: How to Check Your Cream Is Genuine

Glutanex is our own brand. Because people like it, copies and unofficial listings keep turning up online. That’s a bigger problem than poor value, because unlabelled creams can contain harmful ingredients like steroids. Here’s how to make sure you have the real one.

5 checks before you use it

1. The seal. The jar should be sealed and unopened, with no sign that anyone has used it.
2. The label. Look for the manufacturer’s or marketer’s name and address, the net quantity (30 g), MRP, batch number, and the manufacturing and expiry dates.
3. The printing. It should be sharp. Spelling mistakes or a blurry logo are a bad sign.
4. The cream itself. It should feel smooth and even, with a pleasant smell that’s the same every time. If it isn’t like your last genuine jar, stop.
5. The price. A price far below what we usually charge is the biggest warning sign.

Warning signs of a fake

• It’s sold loose, in a plain jar, or without a box
• The seller promises “fair in 7 days” or “permanent whitening”. We never say things like that.
• Your skin lightens very fast and very dramatically, which can be a sign of steroids. Stop using it and see a dermatologist.
• Burning, redness or skin that seems to be getting thinner

What to do if you bought a fake

1. Stop using it straight away.
2. Hold on to the box and the invoice, and take photos.
3. Ask the marketplace for a return, and report the seller.
4. If your skin reacted, see a dermatologist.
