Basics

1. What is glutathione?

It’s a small antioxidant molecule that your body makes by itself, mostly in the liver. It guards your cells against damage, helps the liver with its detox work, and recycles vitamins C and E so they can keep working. Read the full guide →

2. What is glutathione made of?

Three amino acids, joined together inside your cells: glutamate (glutamine), cysteine and glycine. Learn more →

3. Does the body make glutathione naturally?

Yes, it does. But levels can fall with age, a poor diet, smoking, alcohol, stress and not sleeping enough. That’s why people start looking at food, supplements and skincare. Learn more →

4. What are the benefits of glutathione?

The best evidence is for two things. It’s an antioxidant, and it supports the liver. Small studies suggest skin can look a little brighter and more even. Claims about anti-ageing and immunity are still early research. See what the research says →

5. Which foods have the most glutathione?

Asparagus, avocado, spinach and okra are at the top. Still, eating glutathione only gives a small boost. Foods that help your body make its own matter more. See the full food list →

6. How can I increase glutathione naturally?

Fill your plate with sulphur-rich vegetables like garlic, onion, broccoli and cabbage. Get enough protein from eggs, dal or paneer, plus vitamin C foods like amla, and some nuts and seeds. Sleep well, and don’t smoke. Read more →

Skin

7. What does glutathione do for your skin?

As an antioxidant, it helps protect skin from damage caused by UV rays and pollution. It may also nudge melanin production towards a lighter pigment. Expect small changes that come slowly. Read the full guide →

8. Is glutathione skin whitening permanent?

No. Any brightening is temporary. Your skin never stops making melanin, so once you stop, your natural tone slowly comes back (faster if you’re out in the sun). Why it doesn’t last →

9. Does glutathione remove tan?

It can help a tan fade and even out, but daily sunscreen does more. Once you stop getting fresh sun damage, most tans fade in 2 to 8 weeks. See the de-tan routine →

10. Does glutathione help acne marks?

It may help the brown marks left after pimples fade a bit faster. It won’t do anything for red marks or pitted scars. Which marks it can help →

11. Does glutathione work for melasma?

Only a little. Melasma needs a plan from a dermatologist and very strict sun protection. Glutathione can be a helpful extra on top of that. It is not a cure. Read more →

12. Can glutathione help dark circles or dark underarms?

It may help if pigmentation is behind the darkness. But dark circles often come from genetics, thin skin or poor sleep, and dark underarms usually come from friction and shaving. Dark circles → · Underarms →

13. Does glutathione work for men?

Yes, in exactly the same way as for women. Men’s skin tends to be oilier, so a thin layer at night is enough. Wear sunscreen in the day. Men’s guide →

14. When should a bride start glutathione before the wedding?

Around 12 weeks before the big day. That gives the slow results time to show, and gives you time to notice if your skin reacts. Don’t start anything new in the last 2 weeks, and stay away from glutathione drips. 12-week bridal plan →

Using glutathione

15. How long does glutathione take to work?

People who do see a difference usually notice slow changes after 8 to 12 weeks of daily use. If a product promises results in 7 days, treat that as a red flag. Realistic timeline →

16. Is glutathione safe for daily use?

For most people, yes. Creams are meant to be used every night, once you’ve done a patch test. With daily supplements, check with a doctor first if you’re pregnant, have asthma or take medicines regularly. Read more →

17. How do I apply glutathione cream?

At night, wash your face and pat it dry. Massage a pea-sized amount over your face and neck, keeping away from your eyes and lips. Put on sunscreen every morning. Step-by-step guide →

18. Should I use glutathione in the morning or at night?

At night. Skin does its repair work while you sleep, and there’s no sunlight around to break the ingredients down. Why night works best →

19. Can I use glutathione with vitamin C or niacinamide?

Yes. They work in different ways, and products often combine them. Bring in one new product at a time, and stop if your skin gets irritated. vs vitamin C → · vs niacinamide →

20. Glutathione or kojic acid: which is better?

Neither is simply better. They go after pigment in different ways, and lots of products use both. Kojic acid can irritate sensitive skin, so do a patch test. Full comparison →

Not much, because you rinse it off within seconds. A cream or serum that stays on your skin is more useful. Soap → · Face wash →
